What A Productive Citizen Is To Me

To me a productive citizen means when someone needs help, you should help them. And you need to respect others. So productive would mean that you are giving something to society rather than taking, and to me that means a productive citizen should help people out when they need help.
Our game is about life in placement and our rights of bring in placement. This can encourage teenagers that come into placement not respecting the rules and law, that now while they are in placement they can learn that they do have rights but they also have to follow the laws and respect them.

Stupid Boy

The song is by Keith Urban. I really like this song because everything he is singing about it has happened to me. It is talking about how a girl gave up her heart to this boy. The girl thought he really loved her then he broke her heart. Then she left and forgot about him and the boy wanted to get back with her and she left for good. In this song he is trying to address that he was a stupid boy for breaking her heart like he did. This song addressed me about how he was controlling and it wasn’t healthy, which a lot of men have done.

I think that he was stupid because I hate when a man beats on a woman and when they keep pushing them around. It’s not right. We are not punching bags for the boys. We just want to be loved and look what some of us girls get. I don’t think that it is right and it’s not fair to us!

If I could I would....

If I could change any law, I would want to change the truancy law. It should be our choice if we want to get an education or not. I just hate the fact that we have to get up so early. I just think we should get more sleep. Therefore, I think we should get to sleep in until 10:00. I think many of the students would go to school. It would help us focus on our schoolwork a lot more and we would not be falling asleep in the classroom. I know myself as a teenager, and I do not go to sleep early. Some teens have trouble sleeping

Michelle Trudeau, a broadcast journalist, writes the following: “
Most high schools begin their day around 7:30 a.m., which leaves many teenagers nodding off in the morning. In fact, at least 20 percent of high school students fall asleep in class on a typical day. The problem: Teenagers need a lot of sleep — about nine hours each night, experts say. And most of them aren't getting enough.”

In my opinion, there would be less truancy if school started later. More students would want to go to school, be less depressed, think better, and they will pay better attention in school. The students, the school, parents, and even the state would benefit.

Are they being taken away?

I was reading this article about a lady who is trying to help her neighbors. I think it is our right to help our neighbors and friends, but obviously some people don’t think it is a right. I think it is our civic duty to help other people. What happened to this lady is making me feel like the government is trying to take our freedom away.

When we try to do the right thing and some people turn around and say were doing the wrong thing, this really upsets me. I feel that some of our rights are being taken away for no reason. We should have all the rights to help people out when they need it. I really think this is unfair to us, because when I feel I need to help someone out I want to help them out without getting in trouble for it. I really think that some people need to give us a break and try and be in our shoes.

My Rights and Responsibilities

According to Wikipedia, “Civics is the study of rights and duties of citizenship. In other words, it is the study of government with attention to the role of citizen’s ― as opposed to external factors ― in the operation and oversight of government.”

In my opinion, one of the most important rights is the freedom of speech. We all can say what we think, but we also have responsibilities that go with the freedom of speech.
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship, and limitation. So I can say what I think about people, and I can’t get in trouble for it. But, I have to be respectful about saying it.

Freedom of speech is a good right that we have, because when someone does something we don’t like we can say something about it—even if that someone is the government.

- Here is a question for you-

If we have freedom of speech, why do schools limit it?
